The trends men love to hate

E sent me this funny list of 6 fashion trends that women love and men hate, with a note reminding me of a time I wore red lipstick to a wedding and he was not a fan.

I think men can just get used to red lipstick, because it's rockin'!

The rest of the list included Ugg boots, jumpsuits, socks with sandals, over-sized sunglasses, and harem pants.

I couldn't help but agree with some. I saw harem pants for the first time when I was on our honeymoon in Italy, and I couldn't believe people had the courage to try to them off. I'm sure they're comfortable, but crotch at the knee? no, thanks.

Socks and sandals can be really cute on people like Chloe Sevigny (or Keiko), but not a trend I would ever try.

I will never own or wear a pair of Ugg boots, but I can understand why people in cold climates would. I just don't see how they're fashionable--to me they're all utility with little visual appeal.

I would definitely wear a short jumpsuit and own several pairs of crazy big sunglasses. (E has also made the comment that they make me look like a giant bug)

What do you think of these loved/hated fashion trends?
Are you willing to brave them despite what the guys think?

You're right your husband should just get used to the red lipstick on you because you look fab!

I def love oversized sunglasses and I wear uggs, but not as a fashion statement...more like "I need to go to home depot and my feet are cold" occasions. I don't wear them enough for them to qualify as "downstairs shoes" (shoes that I keep downstairs near the door and not upstairs in my closet).

No one likes harem pants. I refuse to believe that people do.

Anyway, my husband really hates babydoll dresses (notably the terrycloth kind like Juicy Couture has)! Isn't that funny? He says they remind him of little kids and it seems "perverse" to him for grown women to want to dress up like toddlers.

Wil HATES leggings as pants. Even with like a tunic shirt. He's totally offended.
Uggs [mine are Emus] are a part of my midwest life. Not glamorous at all. I don't get the girls that wear them in early fall/spring with mini skirts! Ridiculous.
And, Cathleya is right, no one likes those harem pants.

LOL! This is hilarious! My husband likes my big sunglasses, but I don't think he would be too keen on the red lipstick or harem pants. I think what they say about women dressing for other women and not for men is pretty spot on.

No red lipstick? That makes no sense to me. I thought that was supposed to be a symbol of sexiness, no? And oversized sunglasses?? NO!! I love them!! My husband hates anything with an empire waist - he thinks they all look like maternity clothes. But the guy has zero sense of fashion, so I never listen to anything he says on the subject. :)

I like to think I have a good sense of style and fashion, and I've come to realize that my fiancé just doesn't always like what I wear. I just found out the other day that he doesn't like when I wear skinny jeans (which I wear, like, all the time) or my flats (that i also wear all the time). Of course he also doesn't like the Uggs.. but I don't care, because they are SO comfy. I think men just don't know what looks good and what doesn't, often times!

PS. I think you look GREAT with red lipstick!

I totally ignore anything my husband says about fashion... he has no room to talk! For the most part he likes my style, actually, now that I think about it, his biggest complaint is that I dress up too much!! He is so spoiled. I totally rock the oversized sunglasses. I know it's totally ridiculous, but I think that's half the fun. I never take myself too seriously with those shades.

You have to try Uggs... from one style woman to the next, I know what you mean, but Uggs aren't at the same level as say... crocs. Die. I only wear Uggs with skinny jeans and I think I pull it off and they feel AMAZING.

Hope you have a wonderful day!
