Weekending in Palm Springs

I was really glad when a couple friends at work [fellow book club members] asked if I wanted to spend the weekend away with them in Palm Springs. Being the last weekend before E gets home, it was a great distraction.

The drive from North County SD to Palm Springs is less than two hours - so it's perfect for a quick getaway! We stopped at this view, almost there. The drive into PS is so refreshing. Over an hour of dry, bland desert and hills, and then suddenly - an Oasis!

I don't want to out my travel partners on the blog, so just pictures of me this time :-)

We started Friday night out with dinner & at the Hog's Breath - a restaurant owned by Clint Eastwood!

Loved seeing the movie posters on the wall and this mural. We ate outside despite the 100 degree temps, because the breeze/misters were hitting us just right. steak quesadillas and a margarita were just the thing.

No pictures of my time by the pool re-reading Harry Potter, but that was a highlight.

We stopped by an historic date farm - and got to taste all different kinds of dates. I even tried the date shake (surprisingly delicious!)

We also stopped at Cabazon outlet malls where I picked up a few things at Banana and drooled over bags at Kate Spade.

Dinner at Melvyn's which had a charming Old Palm Springs style and was really nice, but had really mediocre food.

driving through the dessert back home. So pretty!

I'm dying to stay at this hotel in Palm Springs sometime.

That looks lovely! Dates are so amazing, I'm totally jealous.

I'm dying to stay at the Parker Palm Springs. The rates are totally reasonable, it's just airfare and taking the time off of work that would kill us.
